Training that feels good

We combine structure with soul

Every dog that comes to us is treated as an individual. We use proven, reward-based training to teach calm focus and real-world reliability, then layer in emotional and body-based support so your dog can actually settle and learn. It is a whole-dog approach, built around trust rather than correction.

“Training from the heart, where science meets soul.”

Dog Training
Who we help

Specialist support for the dogs other classes find hard

If standard obedience training has not delivered lasting results, you are in the right place. Our work centres on emotional balance and dog confidence building, not just commands.

Anxious Dog Training

Patient, step-by-step anxious dog training that lowers stress and helps tense, overstimulated dogs learn to settle. We move at your dog’s pace so progress lasts.

Nervous & Reactive Dogs

Gentle nervous dog training that rebuilds confidence around calm, balanced dogs. We rule out fear before we ask for focus, so your dog feels safe enough to try.

Rescue Dog Training

Sensitive rescue dog training for dogs carrying emotional blocks. We build trust first, giving adopted and sensitive dogs a structured, low-pressure place to decompress and grow.

Behaviour Modification

Behaviour modification and behaviour rehabilitation for dogs needing more than basic obedience, guided by the eye of an experienced dog behaviourist.

Personalised Support

Unsure whether your dog needs training, structure, emotional support, or all three? We assess the whole dog and build a plan around your goals and your dog’s needs.

01

Assessment

We start with an honest assessment of your dog’s temperament, triggers, and goals, so the plan fits the dog in front of us.

02

Settle & Decompress

A calm settling-in period for decompression on the farm. A relaxed dog is a dog that can learn.

03

Daily Training

Structured daily sessions: obedience training, recall, impulse control, loose lead walking, plus pack walks and enrichment.

04

Handover

You collect a calmer dog and learn how to maintain the results at home, with pick-up and drop-off available to make it easy.

Our signature 2-week program

The Stay & Train Program

Our Stay & Train program is a board and train program set on a peaceful Queensland farm. Sometimes called residential dog training, a Stay & Train stay lets your dog board with us while receiving structured training support every day, away from the distractions of home. It suits busy owners and dogs who learn best with consistent, immersive routine.

The whole-dog difference

More than commands. A calmer dog, body and mind.

Physical tension and emotional stress often travel together. Our farm-based training combines traditional, reward-based methods with animal communication and Bowen therapy, so your dog can relax, release tension, and learn in a clear, receptive state.

Calm focus and real-world reliability, not just sit and stay

Animal communication to ease anxiety and read what your dog feels

Bowen therapy to relax the body and soothe the nervous system

A patient, holistic alternative to standard obedience classes

NOAH’S JOURNEY

A real example of our whole-dog approach in action, building calm, confidence, and connection through structured routine, recall work, impulse control, and confidence-building.

When Noah arrived at The Mutts Nuts, he was a much-loved rescue dog struggling with anxiety and confidence issues. At the time, Noah was receiving medication to help manage his anxiety. His owners had already invested significant time and effort into supporting him, but were looking for additional help to improve his confidence, emotional wellbeing and recall.

Rather than focusing solely on obedience, I approached Noah’s training holistically. My goal was to help him feel safe, regulated and connected before asking him to perform behaviours.

Noah’s program included:

Nervous system regulation and decompression

Structured daily routines

Engagement and relationship-building exercises

Recall training using positive reinforcement

Confidence-building activities

Farm walks and environmental enrichment

Carefully managed pack walks with balanced dogs

Calmness and impulse-control work

Bowen therapy and holistic support

One of the first things we worked on was encouraging Noah to voluntarily check in and engage with me. Rather than constantly directing him, I rewarded him for choosing connection. Over time, Noah began seeking eye contact, checking in regularly and showing increased confidence in new environments.

The pack walks played an important role in Noah’s progress. Walking alongside calm, well-balanced dogs helped him relax, build confidence and develop appropriate social skills in a structured and supportive environment.

As Noah’s confidence grew, we introduced more recall work. Through consistent reinforcement and positive experiences, his responsiveness improved significantly. By the end of his stay, Noah was reliably returning when called during training sessions and was actively choosing to stay engaged with his handler. During training sessions he was successfully working off lead and choosing to remain connected and responsive.

The most significant change was not simply his recall. Noah became noticeably calmer, more settled and more confident. He appeared more comfortable in himself and better able to navigate everyday situations. Following his stay, Noah was no longer requiring anxiety medication and was continuing to thrive in his home environment.

Noah’s journey is a great example of my philosophy at The Mutts Nuts. Behavioural challenges are often symptoms rather than the root cause. By supporting the dog’s emotional wellbeing, building trust, regulating the nervous system and strengthening the relationship between dog and owner, meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.

Every dog is different, but Noah’s story demonstrates what can happen when we take the time to understand the dog in front of us and work with them as an individual.

The goal is always the same: a calm, confident dog and a happier, more harmonious home.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions

Your dog boards with us on the farm and follows a structured daily training routine: assessment, a settling-in period, daily sessions covering obedience training, recall and impulse control, then a handover where you learn to maintain the results. It is a board and train program, so the training and the boarding happen together.

It depends on the dog and the goals. Foundation skills can come together in a shorter stay, while deeper behaviour rehabilitation takes longer. We recommend the right length after your dog’s assessment rather than promising a fixed quick fix.

It can be, when it is done gently. Anxious, nervous and rescue dogs often need a few days to decompress before real learning starts. Our calm farm setting and reward-based methods are built for exactly this, which is why anxious dog training and rescue dog training are a core focus for us.

Yes. Separation anxiety is an emotional issue as much as a behavioural one, so we combine structure with confidence building and body-based support. Tell us what you are seeing at home and we will assess whether our program is the right fit.

A typical obedience class teaches commands in a group. Our whole-dog approach adds animal communication to address emotional blocks and Bowen therapy to release physical tension, so your dog learns in a relaxed state. The goal is calm focus and connection, not just compliance.

No. We use proven, reward-based training and positive reinforcement with a gentle, trust-building focus. We do not rely on fear, harsh correction or punishment.

Training takes place at our peaceful farm in Queensland, with plenty of open space for dogs to decompress and learn comfortably. Pick-up and drop-off can be arranged for busy owners.

Animal communication is intuitive listening that helps us understand what your dog is feeling, not just what they are doing. Bowen therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique that helps release tension and calm the nervous system, so your dog can relax and learn.
