Why Fraser Coast owners choose a farm stay

A dog board and train the Fraser Coast does not have anywhere else

Looking for a dog trainer Fraser Coast dog owners can rely on? Most options here are in-home visits, weekly group classes and puppy preschools. They suit plenty of dogs. But if your dog needs more than an hour a week, a dog board and train changes everything: your dog lives with us and works on real behaviour every day, away from the triggers and habits of home.

That immersive model is what makes us different. Owners across the Fraser Coast choose when a sensitive dog needs space, routine and calm handling rather than a busy class. For the full philosophy, see our reward-based dog training programs.

Specialist support

The dogs we train best

Our work centres on emotional balance and confidence, not just commands. If a standard class has not delivered lasting results, your dog is exactly who we are built for. Each focus below is localised to the Fraser Coast and backed by our main dog training service page.

Anxious Dog Training

Patient, step-by-step anxious dog training that lowers stress and helps tense, overstimulated dogs learn to settle. We move at your dog’s pace on quiet acreage, so progress lasts.

Nervous & Reactive Dogs

Gentle nervous dog training and reactive dog support that rebuilds confidence around calm, balanced dogs. We rule out fear before we ask for focus.

Rescue Dog Training

Sensitive rescue dog training for adopted and shut-down dogs carrying emotional blocks. We build trust first, with a structured, low-pressure place to decompress and grow.

Dog confidence building

Dog confidence building through farm walks, enrichment and carefully managed pack time, so a worried dog learns it is safe to try new things.

Local context

From the bay to the farm

Fraser Coast dogs do well for walks, from the off-leash foreshores at Point Vernon and Urangan to the long Hervey Bay Esplanade Trail and the historic streets of Maryborough. The catch is that most of it is on-leash and busy, the piers at Urangan and Torquay are off-limits to dogs, and K’gari, Fraser Island, does not allow dogs anywhere at all.

A residential stay is the opposite of a quick beach walk. Your dog swaps the leashed foreshore and the household routine for 160 acres of open paddock and structured, off-lead training all day, then comes home settled. With the farm only a short country drive inland, it is an easy step up from the local parks when they are no longer enough.

01

Assessment

We start with an honest read of your dog’s temperament, triggers and goals. Fraser Coast dogs arrive with all sorts of histories, so the plan always fits the dog in front of us, not a template.

02

Settle & Decompress

A calm settling-in period on the farm, a short drive inland from the bay. Stepping away from the busy Esplanade and the household routine helps your dog relax before real learning starts.

03

Daily Training

Structured daily sessions: recall, impulse control and loose lead walking, plus farm walks and enrichment with space to move that a leashed Esplanade stroll cannot match.

04

Handover

You collect a calmer dog and learn how to hold the results at home, with pick-up and drop-off available across the Fraser Coast to make it easy.

Our signature 2-week program

How the Stay & Train program works

Our Stay & Train is a residential dog training stay set on a peaceful Queensland farm. Sometimes called a board and train program, it lets your Fraser Coast dog board with us while receiving structured training support every day, away from the distractions of home. Here is the path every dog follows.

The whole-dog difference

More than commands. A calmer dog, body and mind

Physical tension and emotional stress often travel together. Our reward-based training pairs positive reinforcement with body and mind support, so your dog can release tension and learn in a clear, receptive state. This is the part no in-home hour or group class on the Fraser Coast can offer.

Animal communication to ease anxiety and read what your dog feels.

Bowen therapy to relax the body and soothe the nervous system.

Working dog know-how, from raising and training Kelpies.

Quiet country to decompress, a short drive from the bay.

Meet the trainer behind the method on our about page, or pair training with a longer farmhouse boarding stay.

Trained by someone who lives with dogs every day

Plenty of Fraser Coast owners come to us after the weekly classes and mobile visits, wanting something more personal. The Mutts Nuts is led by Julia Powell, who has spent years raising and training working Kelpies and has a particular soft spot for anxious, nervous and rescue dogs.

That working-dog background means calm structure and clear communication come naturally, and every plan is built around the dog in front of her. Read Julia’s full story on the about page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fraser Coast FAQs

Most of our Fraser Coast dog training happens as a residential Stay & Train. Your dog boards on our 160-acre farm and follows a structured daily routine of reward-based training: assessment, a settling-in period, then daily sessions covering obedience training, recall, impulse control and loose lead walking, finished with a handover so you can hold the results at home.

An in-home visit or a weekly class gives your dog an hour or so at a time, around the distractions of normal life. A dog board and train is immersive: your dog lives and learns with us every day, which suits dogs who need consistency, space and calm handling more than a busy room can give.

Yes, when it is done gently. Anxious, nervous and rescue dogs often need a few days to decompress before real learning starts. Our calm farm setting and reward-based methods are built for this, which is why anxious dog training and rescue dog training are a core focus, alongside dog confidence building.

Yes. For Fraser Coast dogs, separation anxiety responds best to calm structure paired with real downtime, which a farm stay provides. We combine confidence building with body-based support like Bowen therapy and tell you honestly whether a stay suits your dog after assessing them.

Reward-based, always. We use positive reinforcement with a gentle, trust-building focus and an experienced dog behaviourist’s eye for behaviour rehabilitation, never fear, harsh correction or punishment.

We offer pick-up and drop-off across the Fraser Coast, from the coastal suburbs through to the rural localities listed above. Distances and transport costs are on our rates page, and dog registration requirements for the region are explained by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.
